“Anything that connects us with our childlike energy and joy counts as fun.”
So … Maybe you’ve been doing the same thing, looking the same, feeling the same and are ready for a change. I will suggest some great and easy ways to bring back the passion, fun, fire and excitement into your life. By bringing fun and passion back into your life, this may lead to a better and a more interesting job, could help you find your dream partner, may improve your relationships with friends and family…and so many other great opportunities. How might you add more joy and passion into your life? A tidbit about me, during and after my divorce, I found myself spending far too many days unmotivated, sleeping long hours without a clue of how to navigate this new and uncharted phase of my life. I was always known as the “fun person” I didn’t know how to bring the fun and passion back into my life as a single woman. I decided to do some research, I sent out an informal survey to friends, friends of friends, and family who have been through divorce and rediscovered fun – creating a happy and healthy solo social life post-divorce. This knowledge was a game changer for me to bring back the fun, become fearless, and move forward. Here are some fun things I opted to do solo after divorce.
I hope you enjoy these fun experiences as much as I have.
HAPPY HOUR
Okay, going to a bar by yourself doesn’t sound like the first choice for a solo night; however, choosing a happy hour at a local spot is a great way to meet new people! Find a happy hour near you. Usually happy hour attracts fun and friendly people and the prices are great. You never know who you might meet.
GRAB A CUP
Enjoy some R & R with a good cup of coffee or a glass of wine at a cafe near you. Bring that book you have been meaning to start, and let your mind get lost with each sip and flip of the page.
MOVIE NIGHT
One of my favorite things to do solo is go to my local theatre. You're looking with your own eyes and having your own independent thoughts, you don't need a crowd! You finally get to see a movie you want to see and can explore those niche interests you've been meaning to get into while enjoying some buttered popcorn.
GO TO A MUSEUM
Museums are filled with history and a wealth of knowledge. Going to a museum, can also become a meaningful part of one’s identity and contribute to successful social relationships in a manner that material items cannot. Visiting a museum allows your mind to escape into a world unknown Museums also have cafés, bars and sometimes outside terraces where you can grab a lite bite / glass of wine. Museum after hours are SO MUCH FUN, where individuals from all walks of life gather and enjoy in the festivities.
TRAVEL
While traveling with friends or a significant other can be a lot of fun, traveling solo for a certain amount of time can prove to be one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do because of the great people you’ll meet along the way. While traveling alone may put you out of your comfort zone, it also allows you to rediscover yourself. Think, “EAT, PRAY, LOVE.”
DANCE LESSONS
Although you might feel nervous interacting somewhat intimately with strangers, you’ll learn to dance with a partner who won’t judge your new moves :) I have learned how to dance salsa, while meeting the best dance partners / friends.
